Armillary sphere - what exactly is it?
The armillary sphere is an astronomical model consisting of interlocking rings that represent the celestial equator, the tropics, and the Sun's annual path, the ecliptic. It was used from ancient Greek astronomy through the Renaissance to visualize the sky - today, it lives on primarily as a decorative object.
What is it made of?
Our collection features antique-effect brass ring pieces on a wooden base. With use, the brass develops a natural patina, which many collectors believe only makes it more beautiful.
Where does it fit?
