Hand-crafted white resin sculpture, detailed in every tiny aspect. This famous sculpture, carved by Giambologna (1529-1608) and located in the Loggia dei Lanzi in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, depicts a young man lifting a woman above his head, while a desperate old man is squeezed between his legs (this sculpture is also known as "the three ages of man"). The sculpture evokes the event in ancient Roman mythology when Roman men collectively abducted young women from towns in the surrounding Italian regions.
