Hand-crafted, bronzed resin statue detailed in every small aspect. Ares (Mars) is the Greek god of war, one of the twelve Olympian gods, and the son of Zeus and Hera. He is often depicted as a strong and handsome man; he embodies the physical violence and untamed side of war, in sharp contrast to his sister, Athena, the goddess of reason and military strategy. Although Ares is associated with the victories of war, he was often worshipped before battle. Due to their military culture, the Spartans revered Ares and erected a chained statue of him to keep his spirit and victory within the city of Sparta. Ares is also known for his many love affairs and numerous offspring; he was famously the lover of Aphrodite, who was the wife of Hephaestus.
