Hand-crafted, bronze-finished resin statue with every tiny detail meticulously worked out. Atlas was a legendary titan who led the ten-year war of the titans against Zeus. Atlas was eventually defeated and, as punishment, was forced to hold up the sky. Heracles had to obtain the golden apples from Atlas's daughters, the Pleiades, so he asked for his help. Atlas asked Heracles to hold the sky while he went to find his daughters. When Atlas returned, he did not want to take the sky back onto his shoulders. However, Heracles tricked him: he asked Atlas to hold it for a moment while he adjusted the burden on his shoulders - thus he gave the sky back to him. In Roman mythology, Atlas kept Medusa's head in a bag. Once, he accidentally took it out and glanced at it, whereupon he turned into stone.
