Hourglass, 3-column, brass/wood, approx. 5 minutes

The smallest piece of the series: a brass and wood hourglass with a running time of just 5 minutes. Its height is 15 cm, and its diameter is 8 cm.

Five minutes - what we actually tend to measure

Five minutes is the measure of everyday life: that's how long tea steeps, how long an egg takes, how long a turn lasts in a board game, and exactly how long you should brush your teeth. For children, it is more spectacular and reassuring than a countdown on a phone - they can see it running out.

Where it fits

With its 15 cm height, this is the size that can be placed on a kitchen counter, bedside table, or the corner of a cluttered desk without getting in the way.
