Roman Empire gold-plated chess set

Unique chess set, made of bronze using the lost-wax casting process, finished with genuine 24-karat gold, with a Made in Italy certificate. Each piece bears the sculptor's signature. The chessboard is made of onyx and bronze, with a bronze and genuine gold frame. After the assassination of Caesar, his nephew Octavian took power in Rome; he assumed the name Caesar Augustus and gave the principate a stable, constitutional form, thereby launching the era of the Roman Empire. This achieved glorious results in the fields of civilization and politics; however, moral and social decay undermined its governmental and administrative foundations, and despite the reorganization attempts by Diocletian, Constantine, and Theodosius—along with the division into the Eastern and Western Empires—the magnificent arc of the great Roman power was considered complete.
