Winged Mercury, Giambologna bronze-plated statue

Hand-crafted, bronze-finished resin statue, worked in every fine detail. Hermes was the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughter of Atlas. Hermes was the god of shepherds, merchants, literature, and thieves. He was also the messenger of the gods and the conductor of souls to the underworld. Of all the Olympian gods, he was the craftiest; he invented the lyre, the pan flute, the musical scale, astronomy, weights, measures, and the cultivation of olive trees.
