Archangel Saint Michael is the leader of the angelic host in the heavenly war, which rages between God's celestial armies and Satan's evil horde, as described in the Book of Revelation. In this statue, Saint Michael appears with his classic weapons - the long, great sword and the cruciform shield - with outstretched wings to strike fear into the eyes of the demonic enemy. It was Saint Michael who cast Lucifer into the depths of the underworld.
